Joyce Yang launches the second half of her 2013–14 season with renowned German violinist Augustin Hadelich. Their US tour begins at Chamber Music International in Dallas, Texas, where the duo will perform works by Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Ysaÿe, Janácek, and André Previn (Jan 3). From here, the pair takes the program to UCLA (Jan 5), and then to Sarasota, Florida (Jan 11 & 12).
Joyce Yang “made a big impression” this past weekend with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero, Yang “played the work’s virtuoso passages with fleet-fingered agility, and she brought an ethereal lyricism to slower sections” (ArtsNash).
Joyce Yang is a featured soloist in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra’s opening night program, entitled “Russian Spectacular.” An evening of Russian symphonic favorites including Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, the concert sees Yang in a performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Music director Giancarlo Guerrero leads three performances from September 5 to 7.

Other season highlights include a five-city tour with rising-star violinist Augustin Hadelich, beginning January 3 in Dallas, Texas. The duo will also collaborate with Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas in “Tango, Song & Dance” at the Kennedy Center (April 21).
This past weekend saw pianist Joyce Yang in two notable performances at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. Playing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini on Sunday with the Aspen Festival Orchestra and conductor Larry Rachleff, Joyce “lavished jaw-dropping technique and tremendous flair” (Aspen Times).
Pianist Joyce Yang has a busy summer this 2013, making orchestral, chamber, and solo appearances at five summer music festivals. The concert-filled season kicks off with the Rockport Chamber Music Festival in Maine, where the Van Cliburn prizewinner performs Bartók’s Out of Doors for solo piano and Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor with the Jupiter String Quartet.
