JOYCE YANG WOWS AUDIENCES IN NASHVILLE; ONTO SEOUL AND THE EAST COAST

Joyce Yang “made a big impression” this past weekend with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero, Yang “played the work’s virtuoso passages with fleet-fingered agility, and she brought an ethereal lyricism to slower sections” (ArtsNash).

Later this month, the acclaimed Korean-born pianist returns to her hometown in Seoul to perform Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Kwamé Ryan (Sep 13). She then returns to the States for a masterclass and recital at Virginia Commonwealth University (Sep 27 & 28), followed by a three-night engagement with the North Carolina Symphony in Raleigh. Under the baton of Grant Llewellyn, Joyce performs two fin-de-siècle works for piano and orchestra—César Franck’s Symphonic Variations, and Manuel de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain (Oct 3–5).
