Joyce returned to Dallas to perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 for her subscription debut with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The Dallas Morning News sent high praises for her performances: “Pianist Joyce Yang has been a favorite with area audiences ever since taking the silver medal in the 2005 Cliburn Piano Competition. She brought her trademark enthusiasm and passion to the Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto, and there wasn’t a note on autopilot. The technical command was dazzling, runs and passagework delivered with lapidary clarity.

This month, Joyce made her debut performances playing Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestras and Maestro Edo de Waart. St. Louis Post-Dispatch wrote “There’s nothing that quite matches the experience of having a profoundly musical but technically difficult piece of music come together in high style. That happened Friday morning at Powell Symphony Hall when pianist Joyce Yang, conductor Edo de Waart and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra converged on Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor.".

The 2017-2018 season may still be in full swing, but pianist Joyce Yang has already reached thrilling new milestones. In November, she was nominated for her first Grammy Award for Chamber Music / Small Ensemble alongside long-standing duet partner Augustin Hadelich. The nominated work is their recording of pieces by Franck, Kurtag, Previn & Schumann, of which Gramophone wrote, “It is a rare recording that maintains the sort of precision that allows it to stand up to repeated listening while at the same time fostering an illusion of spontaneity, but this is one.”

She then visited the Rockport Chamber Music Festival for a recital of Russian music alongside Escher String Quartet.
