JOYCE YANG’S ‘STELLAR’ ASPEN PERFORMANCES—NEXT STOP, VAIL

This past weekend saw pianist Joyce Yang in two notable performances at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. Playing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini on Sunday with the Aspen Festival Orchestra and conductor Larry Rachleff, Joyce “lavished jaw-dropping technique and tremendous flair” (Aspen Times).

After a recital in Salida this evening, she moves onto Bravo! Vail, where she will perform two solo programs. On the first night, Yang pairs Schumann’s Fantasiestücke with Rachmaninov’s Sonata in B-flat minor (July 30), while the second program includes repertoire from her 2011 release Collage (July 31). On her last day in Vail, she shares the stage with fellow pianists Anne-Marie McDermott, Pedja Muzijevic, and Stephen Prutsman for a “Four Piano Bash” (Aug 3).
